Screensaver Series
Janine Harrington (UK)

3pm

South East Dance’s Align Artist
(30 minutes)

Janine’s approach is at once rigorous and poetic. The intelligence not only manifests in the preparation and creation of intricate structures but is explicitly evident in the body in a way we can all understand. This makes the work profoundly accessible and playful.

Siobhan Davies, Artistic Director Siobhan Davies Dance

Experience this live hypnotic, kaleidoscopic installation which is always in motion.

British artist Janine Harrington creates playful and interactive outdoor works, gallery performance, dance and digital explorations and writings, developing her practice across the UK and Europe.

Screensaver Series is a modular performance and research project that premiered at Dance Umbrella in October 2018, inspired by the obsolete screen-saving programmes of early computing. This mesmerising installation is comprised of sound coding and dance performance, referencing the natural world, care-taking and metamorphosis.

BONI SANTÉ (1:1 Consultations only - available all day)
Tickson Mbuyi (DR Congo) and Cleophee Moser (France)

'Every time they perform respectively as well as jointly... they are able to move one another with simple gestures but significant and deep situations.'
Cindy Olohou, Director of the Agency Wasanii Ya Leo, Paris

Dance intervention Boni Santé, by Condom Man (Mbuyi) and Condom Girl (Moser), is a witty roaming laboratory that invites the audience for a 'consultation' and ensuing 'art-cure'. The masked counterparts first collaborated in Kinshasa, and have gone on to spread their message which questions boundaries and violence in relation to gender and diversity.

THE FOLLOWING PERFORMANCE IS NO LONGER TAKING PLACE

CHIRORODZIVA (THE SLEEPING POOL)
McIntosh Jerahuni (Zimbabwe)

4.10pm

(30 minutes)

‘Even the air I was breathing felt sacred. It is beautiful beyond expression; the water so still, calm and so inviting, but don’t dare to go near it. This is the famous Chirorodziva or The Sleeping Pool’. Mclntosh Jerahuni

Chirorodziva, or The Sleeping Pool, is choreographed and performed by Mclntosh Jerahuni, former artistic director of Tumbuka Dance Company. Using his ‘jerahuni-technique’
he explores the body without any judgement of its abilities and disabilities.

This striking solo performance is derived from Zimbabwe’s mysterious Chinhoyi Caves.
